Da Cheng Quan (also named Yi Quan in China) was created by Wang Xiang zhai (1890-1963) after a lifetime of practice and research into martial arts. Wang Xiangzhai trained in Xingyiquan under a famous master Guo Yunshen. After Guo's death, Wang travelled extensively around China looking for top teachers. As a result of his research into the essence of martial arts, he became convinced that far too much time and effort was spent on learning pretty movements and empty forms. He based his teaching on Xingyiquan but kept simplifying and modifying it to put greater emphasis on mental training rather than outer form. He therefore decided to drop 'xing' (form) - from Xingyiquan and called his new system Yiquan - where Yi means Mind or Intent and quan means boxing. Da Cheng Quan is widely regarded as the most powerful of all Chinese martial arts. The practice of Da Cheng Quan develops the full spectrum of human energy: health, martial arts, philosophy and personality. Da Cheng Quan's foundation is an age-old Chi Kung style. An increasing number of people of all ages and from all walks of life worldwide are now practising this profound art and experiencing its benefits. This vcd set is respectively demonstrated by Wong Yongxiang who is the second generation successor of Da Cheng Quan and Huang Jingwen who is the third generation successor of the Da Cheng Quan. |

Emei Boxing - Emei School of Kung Fu originated from the Emei Mountain, a famous Buddhist Centre in Southwest China's Sichuan Province. It is sometimes listed alongside Shaolin and Wudang as one of the three major schools of Chinese Kung Fu. But it is different from the other two in style. Shaolin boxing, whose emergence and development have been related to Buddhism, is characterised by leaps and falls and other vigorous, sweeping movements; Wudang exercises, which are of Taoist origin, emphasise the use of gentle movements against forceful ones; while the Emei school, which is said to be younger that those of Shaolin and Wudang, has assimilated the strong points of the two. In terms of theory, the Emei School advocates the combination of movement and stillness, and of internal and external exercises. It lays stress on both fitness building and the acquisition of practical skills for combat. It requires its follower to cultivate good moral qualities and use his combat skills mainly for defence. This vcd set is done by Wu Xin Liang, the great master of Emei Boxing,Seven Dan of Chinese Wushu.Cheng |

Emei Mountain is one of the four major Buddhist mountains located in Sichuan Province of China (the others are Wutai, Putuo and Jiuhua). It is also one of the major martial mountains, just behind Song Mountain (Shaolin) and Wudang Mountain. Just like those other mountains, a wide range of kungfu has descended from this venerated sacred place. Emei kungfu is composed of over 200 different styles of kungfu, collected over the last 2000 years. It is said that Emei kungfu can be divided into five pai and eight men. Pai means school or system; Men literally means gate, but in kungfu it refers to a specific school or lineage, often the result of reformations in a method by a revolutionary master. One Pai may include several Men, but not the other way around. The five Pai are Huangling Pai (emperor's clothes), Dianyi Pai (point), Qingchen Pai (named after a place), Tiefo Pai (Iron Buddha) and Qingniu Pai (black cow.) The eight Men are mostly named after family surnames; they are Zhen Men (monk), Yue Men (after famous Song General Yue Fei), Zhao Men, Du Men, Hong Men (red), Hua Men, Zi Men, and Hui Men. This Zhao Men Branch vcd set is performed by Huang Xiao Qing, an inheritor of the style and also expert in Yang Tai Chi. |

Hua Quan or the China Style Boxing, originated in Jining of Shandong Province (ancient Rencheng). It is said that during the Kaiyuan reign of the Tang Dynasty (713-741), a Mount Hua knight named Cai Mao killed his enemy of a noble family of Chang'an, and went to hide in Rencheng. Cai Mao was excellent at combat and sword play. About 400 years later Cai's offspring, Cai Tai and Cai Gang, were also proficient at combat and were often chosen to compete in prefectural and national Wushu contests. They developed their style into the present-day Hua Quan. Cai Wanzhi of Jining, during the Jiaqing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1522-1566), put the finishing touch to Hua Quan by writing a book The Secrets of Hua Quan. He based his book on the traditional philosophy of combining spirit, breath and ego. Hua Quan is characterized by its flawless, well connected movements, lightening-like speed and rock-still stances. Boxers breathe deeply to spread air flows throughout the body and body movements are a result of mental activity. The vcd set is performed by He Jungang. |

Xinyiquan (Heart & Mind Boxing) is said to have been created by General Yue Fei, who was a national hero in China. Legend has it, that Ji Longfeng found a manual written by Yue Fei, and with Ji's prior spearfighting expertise, expanded the style of xinyi.Ji passed the art onto Ma Xueli, who in turn taught it to Moslem people in Henan province. From Ji, the art also spread to Dai Family in Shanxi. Dai Family, and the Henan Brach continue to use the name Xinyi. Li Ruo Neng also known as the "Old Farmer Li" was one of the few disciples accepted by Master Dai Ku. Old Farmer Li was the creator of Xingyi Quan. At the time when Farmer Li was accepted by Master Dai Kui, he was already famous in China for his superior fighting skills in other systems. After learning with Master Dai Kui, Farmer Li refined the old Dai style system and created the new system and named it Xingyiquan. Xinyi and Xingyi are similarly based on the Chinese theory of the five elements. Each element of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water repesent a different energy, angle and strategy applied in fighting and health. There are three primary styles of Xingyi Chuan being practiced today. The Shan Xi Style, the He Bei Style, and the Ho Nan Style would be the most widely-recognized today. Each style of Xingyi Chuan is distinctly different in flavor and appearance. Shan Xi style, considered by most to be the original methodis, is known for its vigorous and powerful movements and abundant releases of explosive internal strength. This method is tight in frame keeping a well-guarded movement structure, which is quick and extremely powerful. It is by far the most complex in form and nuance of the three different families. This vcd series is by Zhang Xi Gui,one of the 100 greatest wushu masters in China. Also the famous martial artist Wu Shi Jun presents the demonstration. |

The Yang style of Tai Ji Quan is a variation of the original Chen style. The forms, which were passed down from the Yang style founder, Yang Lu Chan, have undergone many modifications since his time. Yang Lu Chan's sons were very proficient martial artists and each, in turn, modified their father's art. The most commonly seen variation of the form found today comes from the version taught by Yang Lu Chan's grandson, Yang Cheng Fu. It was Yang Cheng Fu who first popularized his family's art and taught it openly. Yang Chen Fu's form is characterized by open and extended postures. Most of the modern variations of the Yang style, as well as the standardized Mainland Chinese versions of Tai Ji Quan are based on his variation of the Yang form. Yang style Tai Ji Quan is characterized by soft, smooth and flowing movements, which are relatively, even in tempo. The alternations of slow and quick movements that are found in the Chen style sets have been separated in the Yang style. Yang style Tai Ji Quan includes a 'long' or slow set in which all movements flow together at an even pace, and a separate 'fast' form which includes quick and explosive movements. Technically, the Yang styles include a great number of projections and takedowns. The vast majority of Chin Na techniques practiced in the Chen style have been removed from the Yang style. This vcd set combines Yang style taichi and Xingyi practice. It is performed by Song Yu Peng who is the 6th Dan of Chinese Wushu and also a Taichi consultant. |

It is in fact representative of the Yang style Small Frame which was developed and taught by Yang Lu Chan, the founder of the Yang style, for the students in the Imperial Court.Wu Chien Chuan is the name of this styles' founder. The founder of Wu-style Taijiquan is Wu Jian Quan's father Quan Yu (1834-1902). Quan Yu was one of Yang Lu Chan's top students and was said to have gained his master's skill in evasive techniques. He worked as a bodyguard in the Imperial Court and was Manchurian by race. Wu Jian Quan (1870-1942) did the most to popularise this style of Taijiquan and the style is named after him. Because of his efforts, many people came to learn this style of Taijiquan and his form soon became the accepted standard for this style. The style is characterised by smaller stances than the more common Yang style of Tai Chi Chuan. This places less physical strain on the body and is a very useful style for those recovering from injury. Chen style taichi is characterized by low stances and extended postures, and by continuous, fluid motion involving changes of pace, alternations of firmness and softness, and sudden bursts of explosive power. The body moves as a unit, contracting to gather force and expanding to issue what is referred to as spring-like shaking power. Jin (internal; relaxed force), as opposed to Li (external; muscular strength) is developed through circular motion, according to Taiji theory. The body's joints are therefore rotated in converse relation in order to lend each movement a kind of spiral power. In application, the Chen style employs punches, kicks and blows delivered with the forearms, elbows, shoulders, knees, and other body parts, as well as sweeps and throws. t also includes methods of immobilizing one's opponent through the use of Qin-Na /Chin Nah (joint-locking) techniques focused on anatomical stress points. Sensitivity and awareness are developed through Tui Shou (Pushing Hands) practice, which is performed with a partner. This allows the practitioner to apply techniques from the Taiji form in a controlled manner while learning to yield, adhere to, and control opponents by listening to (feeling) their direction of force. This vcd set is a very good series of Chen Style applications. It is lectured and performed by Chen Er Hu who is 12th generation inheritor of Chen Style Taichi. |

![]() | Ma Lin Cheng, Cheng-style Bagua series: Bagua is one of the three major internal Chinese martial arts, the other two being Xingyiquan and Taijiquan. Bagua literally means "eight trigram palm," referring to the trigrams of the Yijing, one of the canons of Taoism. In some styles of Baguazhang these diagrams can refer to eight animals, upon which movements in those fighting systems are based. Bagua is believed to have been composed in the 19th century by Dong Haichuan in accordance with Taoist theories. The movements cover eight directions as marked out in the Eight Diagrams in the Book of Changes, a classic work on divination. Bagua Zhang or Eight-Diagram Palm features dexterity and agility. When moving around it is like walking in a muddy place, with foot steps changing all the time like running water. Palm tracks and body movements follow one after another. The roving around looks like endless circles which overlap one another. The body turns around from the waist during walking, roving, turning, rising and falling. Palm tricks change with the movements of the body. When the upper body protrudes, the lower part of the body squats back to keep balance. When the arms are sent out, the feet are drawn back. The performer is required to "move like a swimming dragon, stare like a watchful monkey, sit like a crouching tiger and turn like a hovering eagle. The vcd set is lectured and performed by master Ma Lin Cheng who is 4th generation inheritor of Cheng Tinghua style Bagua Palm and 6th-level master of chinese national wushu.
