For self-defense, the cane should be as long as possible. All standard canes vary in length from 36" to 37-1/2" in length unless otherwise noted. Longer and shorter canes are avalilable (in hickory or oak only) for an additional $15. charge. The length of the cane is normally measured in the standing position with the arms relaxed. The measurement is taken from the large wrist bone (on the outside or little-finger side of the wrist) to the floor while wearing normal street shoes. This is very difficult to measure by yourself while standing straight up, so it is best to ask someone else to do the measuring for you. If you need a longer or shorter cane than the standard length of from 36" to 37 1/2":
Cane Masters canes are available in your choice of Hickory or Oak, unless otherwise indicated.
When considering the strength of the wood, Hickory is the strongest wood, Oak would be the second strongest.

| Canes in this category have a round shaft, 1 to 1-1/8 in diameter, and as such are our strongest sticks. It must be noted that as material is taken away from the cane, it will loose some of its integral strength. |

As the name implies, the Bokane is a combination of a traditional martial arts "bo" or staff, and a cane. Similar in length (5 feet) to the Shepherd's Crook, made of hickory or oak, but with a sharpened horn, a more open crook, two sets of grips, and is finished with mineral oil. $79.00
