For self-defense, the cane should be as long as possible. All standard canes vary in length from 32" to 36-1/2" in length, unless otherwise noted. Longer and shorter canes are avalilable (in hickory or oak only) for an additional $15. charge. The length of the cane is normally measured in the standing position with the arms relaxed. The measurement is taken from the large wrist bone (on the outside or little-finger side of the wrist) to the floor while wearing normal street shoes. This is very difficult to measure by yourself while standing straight up, so it is best to ask someone else to do the measuring for you.
Note 1: Be sure so select the standard length you desire in the "Standard Length of Cane (no extra charge)" (near the bottom of this page) when you place your order.
IMPORTANT: If you do not select a specific Standard Length, your cane will be 36-inches in length.
Note 2: If you need a Longer or Shorter cane than the standard length of from 32" to 36 1/2":
Cane Masters canes are available in your choice of Hickory or Oak, unless otherwise indicated.
When considering the strength of the wood, Hickory is the strongest wood, Oak would be the second strongest.

Shaolin Shark-Fin Cane
NEW: In September of 2010, exclusively for our friends at EarthWorks Emporium we created a "top-of-the-line" full-dimension cane used both for support and for self-defense designed by layman shaolin monk Shi Xing De. This new design is called the Shaolin Shark-Fin Cane. This cane has three sets of hand grips carved into the shaft, It's hook is wider than normal, and it has a "fin" on the outside of the shaft just below the beginning of the hook that can be used as a thumb-rest, or used against attackers on the street to target nerves and pressure points. Extensive time and detail is involved in the creation of this cane, which is reflected by it's price.
If ultimate comfort flexibility and strength is what you are looking for in your cane, please Click Here to learn more about this new cane and it's unique attributes. Use your browser's back button or the link at the bottom of the following page to return to this page.

| Correct Measurement for the Length of Your Cane |
| To measure the length of your cane correctly, stand with your street shoes on, looking straight ahead, not bending your neck. Let your hands and arms relax straight down and ask someone to measure the distance from the floor to the center of the large bone on the outside of the wrist of the arm that you will be using to hold the cane. It is better to add an inch if you are not sure of the exact length you need. You can always cut off any excess if the cane is too long and having an extra inch of length on your cane can be very advantageous in the event of an attack. |
| Standard Length of Cane (no extra charge) |
| Cane Masters cane stock comes in standard lengths of from 32" to 36 1/2" in 1/2-inch increments. If you wish to purchase a standard length cane, please choose the standard length you desire in the drop-down box immediately below. |
| If you would like your cane to be longer than 36 1/2 inches there will be a $15. additonal charge. To add this option to your order, select the longer length you want in the box below, then click on the PayPal "Add to Cart" button, immediately below. |
|
|
|
If you need a cane longer than 40 inches please E-mail us stating the desired length. We will let you know if we can provide the length, and the additional cost to create it.
|
|
There is a $40. charge to have your cane tung-oiled. Please choose the type of tung oil finish you desire, then click on the Add to Cart button below:if you would like this option added to your order.
You can have your cane sealed with with several coats of organic non-toxic tung oil (this creates a flat matt finish) or, optionally, you can choose the standard tung oil application that has polymers added to create a high gloss finish. If you are going to be handling your cane a lot we suggest the safer organic non-toxic flat matt tung oil finish.
