This academy differs from that of what I expected, however, it is with upmost sincerity when I say it has bestowed an experience with such immensity that I will never forget. In the minute duration of my residing here, I have already constructed ever lasting bonds between myself and that of the other foreigners, the various instructors, and the children. It is something I would recommend to anyone who desires the betterment of one's self mentally and physically. Ultimately, the decision rests with you, but if you want to taste the life style that very few people live, spend the miniscule amount of money it costs to come here, and train.

I have been training in the academy for two months so far. Even though it was a short time, I have trained all the martial arts they can teach and my favorite ones are Wing Chun and Baji taught by Li shifu who is extremely professional and the best martial artist I ever trained with. I enjoy training here so for me time passes very quickly. I was surprised that in China there are only two seasons. Summer comes right after winter so there is almost no spring and fall. I was able to see how a mountain of snow turns into forest in just two weeks. There are mountains around the academy. I go hiking there on weekends, in any season.

Until now I have gathered one week's worth of experience and insight at the shaolin academy. About the food, I have to say I was really surprised how diverse the dishes are. Each meal has about seven plates (except breakfast) you can choose from. And rice. That is a thing you will see often enough. For training, I chose Baji with Lee shifu. Less physical exercises and more technique. It is awesome!

Until now I've spent 1 week in the academy and do not regret coming here at all. The people are nice and you feel accepted here. Although your room and your surroundings are very simple, you have enough to feel comfortable. The food is delicious and there is plenty. My shifu is very patient and shows me every move as many times as I need it to understand it. The training day is long but the breaks are good time to rest. On the weekends you can relax, go to Siping for shopping or going to clubs. So it is a good change. I will stay at the academy for another 8 weeks and want to use it to make a more awesome experiences here and to enjoy my stay.

If you want to study kung fu in China this is the right place to come. Surrounded by farmland, mountains and a lake, the atmosphere is undistracted but town is still only a bus ride away. The weather is milder. The people are warmer. The living is simple and the food is good. You will train and learn a lot but will also have a good fun time.

I have been here for 2 months and I feel like at home. Here all stuff and teachers are kind, smiley and helpful. The academy is situated in a natural area, surrounded by a lake and forest. For training we use also the nature which is nice. Food is really delicious and there is much of it. I like the chi kung class.

I have been to the academy for almost a month now. It actually is everything it says in the website. a quiet and pretty secluded place about an hour from siping. No traffic messing around. Serious masters. You come here to study kungfu and that is exactly what you do. You get to study wing chun, sanda, taichi, shaolin, Chinese. And even, massage. The food is good and there are hot water for showers. And the nature of your training is entirely up to you. While some work there shaolin. For me others climb the steps on the side of the mountain with buckets water. Or go for a 10km run in the rice fields. Once a month there is a test to show what you have learned. And every test you pass now forms and styles go in to your certificate that goes with you when you leave.

The location of the academy is beautiful away from the hussle and bussle of the city. The living quarters and great and the food is excellent. Training is hard as it should be. 5 days a week with Saturday and Sunday for rest. Lots of cardio involved and the instructors motivate and push you along. So far I have been here for 2 weeks and am happy with the academy.

The location of the academy is pristine. Being surrounded by nature, away from the city it is very good for focused training. The training is hard and the shifus are quite knowledgeable, and will work with you however possible. This place is just right if you want a dedicated, focused place to study Chinese martial arts away from most of the distractions at home. It is a simpler place, with simple yet good accommodations and food. Comfort is not the aim here, but having a good time learning is. Everyone here does their best to make each other feel motivated and comfortable, and we are always smiling. It is a very inspirational environment.

Trained in: Wingchun

I arrived at the academy with no prior experience in martial arts. When I came across those giant red doors, this is where it all began. Although I stayed only for one month. I trained hard every day and I am very happy with everything I have learned. I trained under Li Shifu. He is an amazing teacher with a lot of experience. He starts his training day while everyone is still sleeping. Even though I was doing Wingchun, you can still ask your master to go on the 10-15 km bucket runs in the afternoon and come back to training afterwards. Shaolin groups do buckets and runs many times so you can go with them. I suggest people who came here train hard and seriously because time flies by very quickly and the masters will appreciate it if you train hard. Last thing I want to say is that the food is really good at the academy and if you want extra fruits. You can get them in the village near the academy.

I came to the academy with no prior martial arts experience. Siping Shaolin Martial Arts Academy is the best place to come if you want to study martial arts. Shifus at this place are good and motivating. My shifu said I will teach you everything I know, but be serious train hard, don't be lazy, and don't ever forget why you have come to China. The food is also great and the lodging spacious and comfortable. The translator Lee is very friendly and kind person. Every day there is training as well as a Chinese lesson each afternoon saw this easily taken care of. I will stay as long as possible. This academy and I will recommend to my friends enjoy your stay.

Name: Wen, H Lee

Shaolin Kungfu

Hello my name is Wen Lee, I am a Taiwanese American. MY first idea of coming to the academy was to learn discipline & martial art. Then I soon came to realize it is a lot different than what I expected. It's a good place to start from the beginning. The culture and lifestyle is an experience that you will want to check out yourself. It took me sometime to adapt & learn the ways of the Chinese philosophy. After the first month it gets a lot better. The Training: I learn under Master Li, He is a great master. I am learning Wing Chun. I am also going to learn the short 3 section stick form. He also teaches Baji & many other martial arts. He is one of the most respected elders at this academy. He has been training over 50 years. He has also train under a direct disciple of Ip Man. For those who don't know Ip Man he is the man that trained Bruce Lee. The greatest thing that Master Li offers is his many years of wisdom. We train a total of 7 hours 5 days a week. Then we get the weekend off. You can choose to visit the Siping City for supplies or train on the weekends by yourself. I enjoy visiting the city and doing some shopping & visiting the bath house. The Accommodations: The rooms here are for 2 people, but you can request your own room. The rooms typically comes with 2 beds with pillow & blanket, 2 dressers, 2 cloth rack with 1 face towel, 2 wood chairs, & 2 tables. We get showers once a day at 19:30/07:30PM, Best to shower on time unless you like cold showers. The good thing about the toilets is that they are western style. Clothing you wash yourself or you can pay 1 YUAN per item. Most students just wash their own clothing. The Internet is Dial Up, 300K CAP. You won't be able to access Facebook, and YouTube, because of the Chinese LAW. I strongly recommend if you plan to use the internet a lot buy an internet card and pay for VPN. I think you can also get a China cellphone & tteher Wi-Fi to your laptop. The weather can change at a blink of an eye. I would bring clothing for all seasons. Summer time can get as hot as 35C*+/95F*+ & winter time as cold as -35C*/-32F*. Power goes on and off depending on weather. Pack for the worst pray for the best. But most time the weather is very nice. Also the view of the surroundings is amazing. The Food: Morning breakfast is at 06:30AM we mostly steam bread, boiled eggs, and rice porridge. Afternoon Lunch is at 11:30AM we get about 4-6 dish of food chefs choice and Rice. Sometime we get noodles. Night Dinner is at 5:30PM we get the same as lunch about 4-6 dish of food chefs choice and Rice. Sometime we get noodles. The food is almost always Chinese food. Students sometime cook special meals. Also you can request food and the chef will try his best to make you happy. I hope this review helps you make a decision to visit here. It's a really nice place if you want it to be. Also the people here are the best part. I have made lots of new friends and all the masters are great. When I have the chance I will most defiantly come back and visit. The last thing I will add is give yourself the opportunity to experience a chance of a life time. How many people do you know can say I trained at a Shaolin Academy? Good Luck to you, and I hope to see your picture on the memory wall when I come back & visit.

The academy is a very good place. The view is nice and quiet. Master Lee is very helpful and warm-hearted. So I believe this is a good place where you can learn Martial Arts.

The chef is awesome, he will cook up everything you want, with the help from his hardworking family. The staff always has a smile on their faces, which always puts a smile on mine. The academy's location is second to none, From the balcony you see the mountain peaks as far as the eye can see, as well as the castle, and the lake on the other side. We have been studying Shaolin kungfu for 2 months in training class and we learn so much in very little time. The key to this is you have to be willing to do it.

Shaolin Kungfu

Hello, My name is T.J. and I am a return student here at the SiPing Shaolin Martial arts academy. My first training period here was for a year in 2006/2007. In that time here I worked under one of the Shaolin masters here at that time: Zhang Shifu, who was a top graduate from the Shaolin Wu Shu Guan in Henan province. The work was tiring, difficult and bitter. But the results of what I achieved in that time were tremendous: My knowledge increased in the areas of Traditional Shaolin martial arts, meditation, soft Qi gong, Hard Qi Gong (body conditioning and Iron head Gong Fu) as well as some Sanda (Chinese kickboxing). I went back home for a few years and in that time despite my long search, had not found any school that provided the intensity or quality of instruction that I found at this academy. Despite training under some skilled masters back home, their classes were watered down compared to the level of instruction that was offered here and carried on much of my practice on my own in that time for that reason.

A couple of years back, I decided to leave home again and train for a few more years and looked into different schools and styles in different parts of the world. In the end after researching many different schools and styles, I felt it was the best choice for me to come back here. I feel this way because the location is great out here on a high hillside in the country, with the closest village over a km away. The masters here are always of top calibre for what ever styles the academy offers at the time, The living conditions are pretty good for a martial arts academy in China and the academy does try their best to make sure you get the most out of your training and have a good experience here.

It is true that the learning curve is a bit more gradual with the Chinese martial arts, but because the learning is more gradual it allows the practitioner to keep and build upon their health and use their martial skill well into their old age (if practiced properly), in contrast to some styles that you gain skill quickly, but your body breaks down faster as a trade off. So, I made my return here in July 2013.

As I have become more specific in my training, I have switched styles in my return from Shaolin to Baji. The master I study Under: Li Shifu is a knowledgeable, skilled and kind man, I am proud to call him Shifu. I will continue on at this academy till my time here is done.
